Secrets of a Successful Organizer Summer Series
Event at a Glance
REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.
WE HAVE REACHED CAPACITY FOR THESE WORKSHOPS.
Keep a look out for more workshops being offered in the months ahead.
As summer beckons, troublemakers are plotting. Learn new skills and build power with workers from across the country to rekindle the flame of rank-and-file militancy.
Leading up to the 2022 Labor Notes conference, we are hosting online troublemaking via Zoom. Our April Month of Troublemaking was such a raging success—or “lit” as the kids say nowadays— we thought we would keep turning up the heat on the bosses.
Join us for our Secrets of a Successful Organizer training series: 1. Beating Apathy; 2. Assembling Your Dream Team; and 3. Turning an Issue into a Campaign. These are based on our widely acclaimed book, Secrets of a Successful Organizer.
We are offering two rounds:
The Wednesday sessions will run 12:00-2:00pm ET (9:00-11:00am PT) on June 2, 9, 16, and 23.
The Thursday sessions will run 7:00-9:00 pm ET (4:00-6:00pm PT) on June 10, 17, 24, and July 1.
Register for one series, either Wednesdays or Thursdays. We are asking you to attend all four workshops in the series, including the fourth workshop session. Bring your challenges to the group to problem solve.
Once you register, you will receive a link to your chosen series. We will send emails weekly with links to sessions and on the day of the event. Be sure to check all of your email folders, including your spam folder, for the session links and to download Zoom beforehand.
Sign up early, because some workshops will limit the number of participants.
Cost: $10 for the whole month. Includes access to all workshops until space is filled. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
- Also available: registration plus 50 percent off a one-year subscription to the Labor Notes magazine - $25!
Subscription offer valid only for U.S. addresses. Click here to purchase an international subscription.
Are you beating your head against the wall trying to get other workers involved? This workshop is for you. Hear success stories from those who’ve turned their workplaces around and turned apathy into action. Learn practical organizing tools for engaging your co-workers, taking action, and getting results.
Assembling Your Dream Team
Your workplace may feel like an unorganized mess, but the truth is you’re not starting from zero. There’s organization there already—though it might have nothing to do with the union. Learn how to map out the existing networks in your workplace, identify the leaders in those networks, and then knit them together into an organizing committee.
Turning an Issue into a Campaign
Everybody has complaints and frustrations, but an organizer has the power to turn problems into opportunities. Learn how to sort through the issues you hear from co-workers, bring people together, and make a plan to solve them.
