As your coworkers come back from summer breaks, and your boss starts scheming for the end-of-year rush, now's the time to get organized.

Secrets of a Successful Organizer is Labor Notes' core organizing training, in three sessions full of lively participatory exercises. We welcome first-timers and repeat attendees looking to sharpen their skills.

These workshops are based on our widely acclaimed book Secrets of a Successful Organizer. These trainings will be held via Zoom.

You won't want to miss this round, with longtime trainer Memo Durgin (California Teachers Association) and rank-and-file electrical worker Taylor Werner (IBEW 46) leading the workshops with Labor Notes labor-climate organizer Keith Brower Brown.

When: Mondays, August 12, 19, and 26
Time: 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Eastern / 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Pacific
Cost: $15 for the whole series. Includes access to all workshops until space is filled.

No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.

Accessibility: Zoom's automatic captions will be turned on during the session. Please feel free to contact us with other accessibility needs or questions.

If you have any questions about the workshop, email our staff organizer Keith Brower Brown at keith[at]labornotes[dot]org.

If you have problems signing up, or can't find a Zoom link after registering, please email our Communications Organizer Sindhu Sundar at sindhu[at]labornotes[dot]org.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

Beating Apathy
Are you beating your head against the wall trying to get other workers involved? This workshop is for you. Hear success stories from those who’ve turned their workplaces around and turned apathy into action. Learn practical organizing tools for engaging your co-workers, taking action, and getting results.

Assembling Your Dream Team
Your workplace may feel like an unorganized mess, but the truth is you’re not starting from zero. There’s organization there already—though it might have nothing to do with the union. Learn how to map out the existing networks in your workplace, identify the leaders in those networks, and then knit them together into an organizing committee.

Turning an Issue into a Campaign
Everybody has complaints and frustrations, but an organizer has the power to turn problems into opportunities. Learn how to sort through the issues you hear from co-workers, bring people together, and make a plan to solve them.
