Today's labor environment leaves many workers feeling powerless and isolated. We're expected to work longer hours for less pay, take on more and more responsibilities, work faster, and put up with abusive bosses.
It doesn't have to be this way. Unionized workers in a number of locations around the country have been able to stand up for themselves when they've organized their co-workers around specific workplace issues. Through group grievance campaigns and job actions, union activists have been able to push back against management, and win.
Dan Clawson, an activist with the Massachusetts Teachers Association, will lead a workshop on how to organize grievance campaigns and direct action in our workplaces. A variety of local union members, including custodial workers at St. Michael's College, state workers, UVM professors, and nurses at UVM Medical Center, will join the discussion to share stories of success, as well as the challenges they face.
Bring your co-workers to this first in a series of Vermont Labor Solidarity organizing workshops!
