    Longshore workers by the hundreds blocked a mile-long train July 14 to prevent an anti-union company from moving grain through the port of Longview, Washington. Earlier, members used a pickup truck to tear down a fence and then occupied the grain terminal, blocking employees from working. About 100 union members, including leaders, were arrested for criminal trespassing.

    Protests in Egypt escalated this week when thousands of emboldened workers across the country walked off or sat down on the job. A wildcat action that began Tuesday among 6,000 workers in the Suez Canal, however, could rock the Egyptian economy, amplifying the leverage of pro-democracy protesters.

    Picking up on more March 4 creativity: 75 students from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, organized a funeral for public education March 4 in concert with the massive protests in California schools and on other campuses around the country. After the wake, they proceeded into the Capitol building, interrupting the Senate with a protest song to the tune of Amazing Grace (the lyrics are below).
